In June 1950, William A. Donelson, BS BA ’50, heard then President Harry Truman as his graduation speaker. In 2008 for his granddaughter’s graduation, Donelson heard William Little, BS BA ’64, president of Quam-Nichols Co. in Chicago, as the Trulaske College of Business commencement speaker.

Granddaughter Carrie Hoelscher followed in Donelson’s accounting footsteps by earning a master’s degree in accountancy from the University of Missouri May 16.

The intervening generation includes her parents, Barbara I. Donelson Hoelscher, who graduated in home economics journalism in 1976, and John A. Hoelscher, who received a BA in 1977 and medical degree in 1981, of Alton, Ill. Also attending the graduation celebration were Carrie’s aunt and uncle, Judith A. Donelson Derks, BS HE ’86, and Clifton L. Derks, BS Ag Econ ’86, of Lenexa, Kan.
