Artist about town
David Spear paints Columbia
David Spear, a full-time artist and MU graduate teaching assistant, has made a name for himself as an artist about town. Spear's studio and gallery space, Alleyway Arts, is located at 1107 E. Broadway (as you might guess from its name, you enter the space from the alleyway between Broadway and Walnut Street). His work often depicts Columbia scenes and landmarks, graces the walls of popular restaurants Sophia's and Addison's, and shows up in somewhat surprising places — he painted a number of traffic light boxes downtown and designed the poster for the annual Roots 'N Blues 'N BBQ festival. In his own words, learn more about Spear and his work below.
